Event Details

Boston International is thrilled to announce our first event held in official partnership with the French Consulate of Boston. Please join us as we welcome Mr. Christophe Guilhou, Consul General of France, who will share a French perspective on the recent events in the Middle East. We look forward to an evening of stimulating intellectual discussion, interesting Q&A, and of course French wine & cheese!

About the speaker

Mr. Christophe Guilhou has many years of personal and professional experience with the Middle East. Prior to being appointed Consul General of France in Boston, Mr. Guilhou served as Permanent Deputy Representative to the United Nations in Geneva (2006-2009). Among these tasks, he represented the French Government on the UN Compensation Commission - a subsidiary body of the UN Security Council tasked with providing compensation for the losses and damage inflicted by Iraq's invasion and occupation of Kuwait. In 2005-2006, Mr. Guilhou served as an Advisor on the Arab world to two French Foreign Ministers, Mr. Michel Barnier and Mr. Philippe Douste-Blazy. Mr. Guilhou was also involved in the negotiation process for the Israel-Lebanon conflict in the summer of 2006. Prior to that, Mr. Guilhou spent many years living and working as a diplomat in the Middle East: Syria (1999-2002), Abu Dhabi (1995-1999), and Morocco (1987-1989). Fluent in Arabic, Mr. Guilhou has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East. He holds degrees from Institut national des Langues et Civilisations orientales and Institut d'Etudes politiques de Paris.
